General meeting

  1. Meeting opened 7:07pm

Minutes amended to read – 8.  – AshfieldCAN has been allocated $10,000 in the draft Town of Bassendean budget for 2013/2014.

  1. Correspondence – Out    – request to Dave Kelly to present Traffic light petition in Parliament.
  2. Correspondence in         – Letter from John Day, Minister for Planning regarding Ashfield Precinct Plan.                    – email from Pauline Gazey regarding the new website

-Tina Klein petition to keep the fire station as a museum.

Neighbourhood Watch – Lucy and Verna to fill out the funding application for the bus shelter project.

  1. Business arising The petition for traffic lights at Colstoun Road was presented to State Parliament by local member Dave Kelly Friday 28th June.

 

The Website has been rebuilt and is up and running and has received some good feedback.

 

  1. Colstoun Road/ Guildford traffic Light Proposal The petition for traffic lights has been presented in Parliament. No response from Minister for Transport at this time.
  2. Colstoun Road garden. Work has been completed on building a wall and erecting a fence on the Colstoun Road adjacent to the Sports Club. The next Town of Bassendean budget will allow for the garden area to be completed. Emma Slavin has developed some concept plans for the garden. These to be passed on to town of Bassendean. The garden will be a project developed over time.
  3. Gary Blanch Reserve and Ashfield Forest Project.  _ Marion Cahill has written a letter to TOB council requesting that we hold a garage sale/Car boot sale as part of the National garage sale trail on 26th October.

The Town of Bassendean has funds put aside for hydro zoning areas of Gary Blanch Reserve.

Need to meet and talk to Town of Bassendean about concepts developed for the park.

Ashfield Forest Concept. A meeting was held with Simon Stewart Dawkins and Ken Cardy from the Town of Bassendean and Emma Slavin, Teresa Welch, Nick Tatnall and Lucy Bromell regarding ideas for the Ashfield Forest concept. This meeting was to ensure that we had agreement to move forward on some of the concepts of the plan.

  1. Bus shelter Project.  Lucy bromell has spoken to Karen Wood from Cyril Jackson but no definite plan as yet.
  2. Dog’s Breakfast The Dog’s breakfast will now be on 13th October and we need to start looking for sponsors. Please can everyone help by trying to find sponsors interested in this event.
  3. General Business
  • Don Yates- Local Planning strategy gets published next Friday. This affects the Ashfield Precinct Plan.
  •  It was suggested that the mural in the sports club needs to be photographed and history documented.
  • Don Yates – Tina Klein has raised a petition for a special meeting in regards to the war memorial relocation.
  • Marion Cahill – Thanks to Ashfieldcan members that attended the Bassendean Preservation Group planting. Marion will keep the AshfieldCAN up to date with BPG news.
