  • Business arising  -nil
  • Gary Blanch Reserve  -Emma Slavin Presentation to ToB was very successful. The plans were accepted unanimously by the council. Earthworks and reticulation to start within next month.

Emma will speak at Green Drinks about the project. Committee to meet within the next two weeks.

  • Bus Shelter Project  Two shelters are completed in Hardy Rd/ Kenny St and French St shelters are next.

The future of Bus Shelter on Hardy Rd opposite Gary Blanch reserve is to be demolished. Letter to be sent to ToB asking for information on this, should we paint it, will it be replaced?

  • Ashfield Flats- Lucy Bromell and David Love met with Dave Kelly to view erosion of the river bank. Slabs of clay and banks continue to be undercut by boat wash. A large number of mature trees are about to fall into the river because of eroding banks. The owners of the land, WAPC appear to have done nothing to address these problems.

Concerns were also raised about the maintenance of the Ashfield Flats area. The lack of a lease between WAPC and TOB is a concern.

Dave Kelly has written to Min. Environment Albert Jacob, Min. Planning (WAPC) John Day and the Mayor John Gangell to voice our concerns and clarify some of the issues.

  1. Area between Bridge and French Street Steps  – Dave Love.

Is the 2005 Syrinx management plan still in place as far as this area is concerned? Many plants have not survived, erosion prevention work not successful.

The pathway is a form of man-made dyke preventing natural flow of water from river into wetlands

Dave Love suggested installing pipes under path to facilitate water flow between wetlands and river along path.

Also French St steps leading down to river are in need of attention-logs displaced on LH side. Many of these issues were raised before Christmas by David Love with the ToB.

  • Tamsin Woodward is trying to get local primary schools involved in studies and care for the Swan River-she has noted that there is no interaction with the river environment and wants to start up River Rangers (Swan River Trust) so that children can learn about river systems.

We hope that AshfieldCAN, the two local schools can work together towards assisting with these issues along the river.

  • James Robertson-Medicare Local. Organisation to coordinate health service and deliverance-studying two areas at moment, Perth Central and Town of Bassendean. What are the needs of our community? Street Doctor provides services to people without transport, maybe dental services are required as well. Ageing population/seniors, people with disabilities, will need more support as population increases and information on all health, including mental health. Health services are looking towards future and prevention eg sports clubs, gyms making their facilities available to all people in community.
  • General Business-nil
