The Gary Blanch Park Opening – Nov 15th 2015

Gary Blanch Reserve had its official  opening celebration on Saturday 15th November to celebrate all the hard work that has gone into redeveloping the park.

The park was officially opened by The Mayor of Bassendean, John Gangell after speeches by Lucy Bromell, AshfieldCAN president, Emma Slavin – Gary Blanch Project Co-ordinator and Fred Hussan from Swan Valley Rotary.

The event was well attended by local residents who got to enjoy music played by students from Cyril Jackson Senior Campus, afternoon tea provided by the AshfieldCAN as well as ‘I love Gary’ cup cakes donated by Cookies and More. A face painter was kept busy painting kids faces and there was plenty of things to do for children especially as there were the new nature play spaces to play in. All in all it was a good day and a fitting celebration for all the hard work the community has put into getting this park into the fantastic state it is in today.

Many thanks has to go to the Town of Bassendean for its commitment and support of this project.

The Community has come together to help plant out Gary Blanch Reserve.

Thank you to all the different groups in our community that have helped us with our planting.

Ashfield Primary School planting day .17th September 2014

Today students from Ashfield Primary School joined us and helped plant out two sections of the park. Town of Bassendean Environmental officer, Jeremy Walker was on hand to demonstrate the planting and to talk about the importance of revegetation to the students.

After the planting the students enjoyed time to play in the park and have a sausage sizzle.

update September 2014

The park is really starting to look amazingly complete with a magnificent range of plants now being planted. We had a very successful community planting day which was enjoyed by all.

We have also had some larger plants installed to add to the look of the park.

It is so exciting to see it all coming alive.!!

July 2014

The park is starting to look great now that the contouring has been completed, the path put in, grass growing in great areas. The mulching around the park has been done.

Thanks to all the hard work from those at the Town of Bassendean  for helping make this happen, especially Ben Moore for his commitment to the project and the wonderful parks and garden staff who have done a fantastic job.

Also thanks to TripleM for the extra care they have taken with our park. We really appreciate it guys!

Thank you to Emma Slavin for being the master planner in this great project.
